Pairing the RingCentral Rooms host device
and controller

Last updated on November 24, 2021
Before you can begin hosting and attending meetings using RingCentral Rooms in your conference room, admins must first set up RingCentral Rooms for Poly, Mac, and Windows by signing in to RingCentral Rooms on your controller and pairing it with the host device.

Note: The RingCentral Rooms app must be installed on both the host device (Poly / Mac / Windows) and controller (Poly / iPad / Android tablet).

Pairing the host device and controller

There are two ways to pair the host device and its controller:
  • Use a pairing code to pair the host and controller
  • Manually pair the host and controller

Using a pairing code to pair the host device and controller

Pairing the host and the controller provides an easy way of connecting both devices without the use of extra equipment, such as a mouse and keyboard for the host.
  1. Take note of the pairing code displayed on the host device.
  2. On the controller, enter the pairing code displayed on the host screen.
  3. Log in to RingCentral Rooms on the controller app.
  4. Select the same room where you want to sign in.
The host screen will display the room name and the upcoming meeting for the day once it has been successfully paired.

Manually pair the host and controller

You can also manually connect the host and controller if you do not want to pair the host and controller using the pairing code.
  1. On the host device, sign in using the Rooms credentials created by an admin.
  2. Select a room. The host screen will be displayed. A prompt appears, indicating that the controller is not signed in.
  3. After signing in to the host device, sign in to the controller using the same Rooms credentials.
  4. Select the same room you assigned on the host device.
When successfully connected, the upcoming meeting for the day will be displayed both on the host screen and the controller. Available controller buttons will also be displayed upon successful pairing with the host.
